Back in Time
"Rooooommmmm" follows "beeeep;" the epitome of a Saturday cattle drive along US 377 and I-35E in Denton, TX. Located on the south side of 377 is a opportunity for families and other motorists to take refuge, find tranquility and reminisce. The car doors open, the feet drag along the gravel parking lot. Cries of "I am hungry," take over...until the glass gates of nostalgia heaven opens. "Don't know much bout history"...The stress is gone and long forgotten. "But I do know that I love you...what a wonderful world this would be." The sounds of automatic milk shake machines and the smell of chili cheese fries wake up the palates. The Fonz brings his lady friends, "Hey, Cunningham, come down and bring those bozo's with you." All that is needed are car hops trying to figure out what order to bring as they perform a delicate balancing act on their roller skates. "Can, I help you, sir," says the man in a white shirt with blue flat lines rolling down the buttons. "I'd like to order a chili burger with tater tots, cut the onions." The yellow plastic benches with parochial tables that could not hold a dominoes tournament, but can fill one's appetite, decorate the counter. In the back lies metallic stoves where the magic of diner food is concocted. A blonde hair young man of 7 years smiles as his freckles invites people to look at him. People keep to themselves as they soak in their journey back in time.
Mr. Frosty's opened up in 1954, just around the time Bill Haley cometed up in Rock n' Roll glory. While it is surrounded by Cycle Center, Cash America Pawn, a cleaners, Collision Repair, Winfree School Academy and Sonic Drive-In, it stands out as a testament of time.
