A romance to remember
The beauty about road trips is that they provide a chance to look at various environments, geographical, cultural, etc... What makes it more special is when pictures that have been lost are rediscovered. As a result, memories, while similar to those held in the past, come up smelling like roses.
A few days ago I ran across some photographs from a trip I took in 2009 when I lived in Houston, Texas. The journey took me to Fort Stockton and part of the Big Bend Country. I admit I need to go back and visit Fort Davis, Alpine and other areas. Nonetheless, here are some of my favorite experiences of that July trip.
The first few pictures are from Fort Lancaster, which is southwest of Interstate 10.

(The end of US 90 in Van Horn, Texas. The Old Spanish Trail continues on Broadway and joins US 80 all the way to San Diego, California. For a more comprehensive look at the OST, look at http://www.americanroads.us/autotrails/oldspanishtrail.html)
South of Van Horn along US 90. The asphalt continues to get soaked up by the sun as the winds caress the grass and the windmills get a workout.
Formerly sold Standard Oil products. The open road promises nothing, but the unknown.
The journey takes unexpected twists and upside down turns. This was at a camp side by Blanco, Texas. Relaxation is one reward of a road trip.
