A new beginning

How about this view going home?
This week, I began a new job. Two weeks ago, I was laid off from a job that lasted a mere six weeks. After the shock of being laid off went away, I began looking for work. As with my previous search for employment, I looked at any nook and cranny: part-time, full-time, and temp agencies. Nonetheless, I got a call from an agency and after doing reasonably well on the Microsoft Excel and Word tests, I was assigned a job in north Fort Worth. The first thing I noticed was a change in the attitudes of the new co-workers. While it is much smaller, the people are more friendly, and being in a smaller work environment enables one to get a feel of the people. On the first day, I introduced myself as a man of the highway. I began talking about my journeys across the Lone Star State. After telling people I originate from New York, I felt I had to show my highway prowness, and knowledge of the asphalt aquaduct of Texas by describing some of the routes, and places I visited. In turn, amazingly, people began to talk about their favorite moments. From Eskimo Joe's in Stillwater, Oklahoma to caressing Farm Road 337 in Vanderpool, Texas, everyone began to warm up. Aside from enjoying the work environment, the drive to Fort Worth along I-35W (I-35 splits in two places: in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area and south of Dallas in Hillsboro.) was gravy on the roast beef. The scenery is much more scenic. Oil rigs, dry grass, cows, horses, open sky. In contrast, the drive down I-35E to Lewisville was surrounded by nothing but mini malls, liquor stores and car dealerships; although there is a stretch where one caresses Lewisville Lake. I do not know where things will go, but as of September 26th, I am enjoying this new beginning.
