A Super Memory

On Super Bowl Sunday in 2006, I sat at my Godparents' home outside Houston. I was visiting them from New York for the weekend. At the time, I was working a temp job with a future as bright as the concrete sidewalk pavements my souls walked on each day to work. As I sat outside the porch, I made a life altering decision. Time to move.

In the matter of days, I took a lot of my belongings, my mom helped bring the rest down in subsequent visits, and relocated to Houston where I lived for the next six and a half years before deciding to go to graduate school at the University of North Texas in Denton where I am working towards completing a Master's Degree.

Today is the 9th anniversary of my decision to move to Texas. While good and bad things have occurred, I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn about myself as a person and to meet great people, most of which I know on here.

The highways, a major artery in the state, allowed me to travel across the state (other states too) and explore a part of the country that was relatively unfamiliar, other than perhaps what I was taught growing up. I am grateful for my time in the Lone Star State and where I end up after graduating or beyond is not in my scope yet, but I am glad to have moved here.

New York is where I was born and raised and like most people am proud of that fact. That said, I am proud to be a Texas resident and have enjoyed, to this point, my time here. It has been good to me and has me heading in an unknown, yet exciting path towards greatness.
