I admit being in the midst of a thesis is not the ideal time to try something new, but as Doc Brown says in a groggy tone to Marty McFly, after he is asked about the pitfalls of learning about future events, "What the heck." Thanks to a friend and fellow journalist/photographer,
Kim Ulmanis, I created a Facebook page (check out
Gregory Hasman) that is dedicated to my blogs, other writings and some pictures to add a bit of flavor.
Admittedly, I am not the most gregarious or outgoing person in the world, but that is what makes traveling the two-lane highways so unique. In traveling to new places and landscapes,
visiting with people I never met before
(unveiling of a Texas Historical Marker at Illinois Bend Cemetery)
and sitting in a café or a museum getting to learn about the foundation of that place, I slowly open up and relax. In the process I learn about the people that inhabit the towns between the exit signs along an interstate and get an authentic taste of the United States of America.
Next stop: Where the wheels take me.
