Lone Star Chicken Inn and Tourist Court

Sitting along patches of weeds, gravel and pieces of Texas Loop 254, formerly Old US 80 and part of the Bankhead Highway, in Ranger, TX, are Rustic Style buildings with up-side-down opened book shaped roofs. A large structure on the far left featured a Gulf, which fed the pitch black 37' Chrysler, and its partner in crime, a cafe with an overhead that read Coca Cola. Next to it was a separate sign revealing Lone Star in black letters on one side and Chicken on the other.  From the west a rectangular sign  sat a top French fry wide metallic poles offering travelers a chance at sipping Barq's. The Lone Star Chicken Inn and Tourist Court offered tired roughnecks, travelers and locals a taste of Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Wallace's home cook meals and a comfortable night's sleep. Today, inside the former cabins, station and cafe are pieces of shattered dreams

that can be pieced back together with nourishment and a commitment.
